2007 IHSA Boys Soccer State
Runner Up
The Neuqua Valley High School boys soccer program had an
outstanding season in 2007. We had five levels, freshman A and B,
sophomore, junior varsity, and varsity with one hundred twenty nine
student athletes participating.. The program compiled an impressive
overall record of 97 wins 8 losses and 9 ties. This is a new record for
us program record for most wins. We were the champions of six
invitational tournaments and won all five Upstate Eight Conference
championships. The Varsity team were the state runner ups.
The Freshman B team, coached by Mike
Williams went 15 3 1, (4 0 0) this is a new record for the
freshman B. They competed in the Rockford Harlem Tournament which was an
A tournament and the Wildcat Soccer Freshman B Tournament. They were the
champions of the Wildcat Soccer Tournament and were Upstate Eight
conference champions.
The Freshman A team, coached by Dan
Fitzgerald went, 17 1 3 (7 1 - 1). They won the Best of the West
Tournament and the Neuqua Valley Invitational Tournament. They were also
champions of the Upstate Eight Conference.
The Sophomore team coached by Kevin Geers
and Dave Rosenberg, finished with a record of 19 1 - 1 (9 0 - 0) We
were the champions of the Upstate Eight Conference and the Neuqua Valley
Soccer Tournament.
The Junior Varsity team, coached by
Arnoldo Gonzales went 22 1 - 0 (8 0 0) and won the Rockford
Hononegah JV Tournament , finished Runner up in the St Ignatus Soccer
Tournament and were champions of the Upstate Eight Conference.
The Varsity team coached by Jim Johns and
Dan DiMarco and Didi Barreto, finished with a record of 24 2 - 4 (8 0 - 2),
We won the Best of the West Tournament for the third time and won our
fourth Upstate Eight Conference championship. We won our fifth IHSA
Regional Championship and our second IHSA Sectional Championship. We won
are first IHSA Supersectional Championship and finished IHSA State
Runner up, losing a tough game in the final 2 - 1 in the
third overtime to Barrington.
